You’ve had your fun in the sun, but now your body is burnt and you’re feeling the pain. Lucky for you, there are a number of very effective sunburn treatments that can give you the relief you seek…

A cool compress

One of the simplest. ways to get relief from sunburn is to place a cool compress on the affected area. Although this won’t cure the burn, it will take away a lot of the pain. To make the most effective compress possible, mix a pack of Domeboro solution with 0.15 gallons of water and soak compress before applying.

Apple cider vinegar

One of the sunburn remedies that a lot of older people swear by, and which is always worth a try, is sitting in a cool bath that also contains a cup of apple cider vinegar. The PH of the vinegar should help to balance the PH of the burn, which means you’ll be feeling less sore in no time at all.

Oatmeal baths

Another bath-based treatment for sunburn is an oatmeal bath. This treatment is particularly good if you have that hot, prickly, itchy kind of sunburn. The oats will help to deal with that pretty much immediately, just like it does when you have chicken pox.

Lavender

Some people have found that applying a small amount of lavender essential oil to the affected area is a good way of soothing their sunburn. However, you should always test your essential oils before use, as it is not uncommon for people to have a reaction to them, and although lavender is usually safe to be applied directly to the skin, many essential oils are not, and must be mixed with a carrier like jojoba oil before being applied.

Tea

Freshly brew a pot of tea and leave it to cool. Then, take a clean cloth and apply the tea to the affected area. The tannic acid, which is found in black tea, will draw the heat away from the sunburn and help to restore your skin’s PH balance for the relief you seek.

Witch hazel

Witch hazel is an excellent ingredient for reducing inflammation. It may sting a little when you apply it to your skin, but it will soon have you feeling better.

IV treatment

If you want to know how to treat sunburn as effectively as possible, it doesn’t get better than this. The Afterburn IV contains a unique mix of medicines, vitamins, and minerals that will help your body to rapidly repair itself following a period of excessive sun exposure. Simply visit a clinic that offers the solution, and the professionals will do the rest.

Coconut oil

Although this isn’t a remedy for treating sunburn perse, once you have your burn under control, applying a thin layer of coconut oil several times a day will help to keep the area moist and help your skin to heal more effectively

Of course, the best sunburn remedy is to not get burned in the first place, so remember to cover up when you can and wear sunscreen whenever you’re out in the daytime.
