Take a Course

Know the Signs
You need to make sure that you know the signs of certain conditions so that you can raise a flag if there’s an issue.
For example, in the case of a head injury, you should learn about concussion symptoms and treatments just in case you need to watch out for possible issues. That way, people will be staying safe on your watch!
What signs and symptoms are important to look out for can depend heavily on your location. If you live in an area prone to forest fires, you’ll want to be aware of signs of some inhalation.
If you live somewhere in the grips of the opioid epidemic, you’ll want to be able to understand when someone is overdosing and how to appropriately use naloxone.
Take Your Life Into Consideration
What forms of illness or injury you should be looking out for depends on not just what tends to come up in your area, but what you actually do with your time, too.
If you work in a warehouse, you’ll want to get training to ensure you know the signs of and what to do in the event of an industrial injury. Or, if you happen to play a contact sport, it’s important to be aware of all injuries that could happen so that you can be aware of what to do when there’s an emergency.
You should make sure you are stocked up on first aid equipment, once you have the right training.
Always have a correctly functioning naloxone kit on hand. Have plenty of bandaids, polysporin, and other injury treatment materials. If you’re properly trained, it may be useful to have a defibrillator on hand.
Evaluate what materials you already have, and stock up on anything else you may need.
